Must Have Government Experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and map end-to-end services, considering people, processes, policies, data, and technology
  • Apply user-centred design practices to ensure services meet user needs, including vulnerable users
  • Work collaboratively with product managers, researchers, content designers, developers, policy teams, and stakeholders
  • Visualise and communicate complex services using artefacts such as service blueprints, user journeys, ecosystem maps, and process flows
  • Identify pain points, risks, and opportunities across the service lifecycle
  • Support teams through Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases
  • Ensure services meet accessibility, inclusion, and ethical design standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and design maturity within DWPE

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Service Designer working on complex digital services
  • Strong understanding of GDS Service Standard and government digital delivery
  • Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to design services across organisational boundaries
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience translating research insights into service design decisions
  • Confident producing and presenting service design artefacts
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
