Financial Accountant Software Alliance Limited (“SAL”) provides specialist software solutions to the life insurance industry, with a particular focus on financial modelling. As SAL undertakes a period of strategic transformation, the business is seeking an experienced financial professional to manage its accounting and regulatory compliance and to play an active role in supporting the CEO in shaping the company’s future direction. This is a part time position – Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Executive team, the role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls, and effective financial planning. The position offers broad exposure across management accounting, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and commercial support within a dynamic SME environment.
What You’ll Do
- Management Accounts
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and reviews
- Maintain effective financial processes and controls to protect the integrity of the company ledger
- Review payroll and pension inputs and liaise with the external payroll provider
- Finance & Reporting
- Collaborate with the Executive team to ensure business strategies and plans are accurately costed and financially responsible
- Prepare annual budgets and forecasts
- Perform monthly actual vs budget analysis and investigate variances
- Analyse monthly financial results and produce KPI reporting
- Manage cashflow and cashflow forecasting
- Summarise budget trends and highlight financial risks or opportunities to Executives
- Liaise with external accountants to prepare statutory accounts
- Prepare and submit the Confirmation Statement
- Tax & Compliance
- Oversee tax compliance activities, including:
- Preparation of R&D tax credit claims
- PSA submissions
- Liaison with external accountants on corporation tax returns
- Completion and submission of VAT returns
- Ensure compliance with current tax legislation and accounting standards
- Maintain accurate HMRC records
- Sales & Operational Support
- Support the sales team with pricing structures aligned to the commercial strategy
- Assist staff with raising and revising invoices
- Oversee the credit control process
Who You Are
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified finance professional
- Previous experience working in an SME environment is advantageous
- Competent user of Xero and/or Sage
- Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical capability
- Highly organised, proactive self-starter with excellent attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to challenge when required
- Positive, professional, and mature attitude
- Able to manage competing priorities effectively
