We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute VP of Tax to join the leadership team and build and lead the tax function. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a pivotal role in designing and implementing the tax architecture required to support rapid international growth, large-scale infrastructure deployment, and complex financing structures. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who thrives in a high-growth environment, is comfortable building as well as operating, and brings a strong commercial lens to tax strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Tax Strategy & Structuring: Define and implement the global tax strategy across all jurisdictions, including the US and Europe. Design and optimise tax-efficient structures across corporate entities, investments, and joint ventures with private capital, including infrastructure and private equity partners. Support private capital fundraising alongside asset manager partners and ensure optimal structuring of both debt and equity financing. Maintain tax efficiency across the full asset lifecycle, from development through to operation.
- Transaction & Capital Deployment: Lead tax structuring and optimisation across corporate fundraising, capital raises, and infrastructure or technology investments and acquisitions. Support the structuring of joint ventures and strategic partnerships with asset managers and large corporates. Conduct tax diligence on potential acquisitions as the business scales and expands its capabilities. Work closely with finance, corporate development, and external advisors to support transaction execution, and assess the tax implications of commercial contracts, financing arrangements, and new business initiatives.
- International Tax & Compliance: Oversee tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including Europe and the US. Develop and manage transfer pricing frameworks, including those related to intellectual property, while monitoring permanent establishment risk. Implement effective withholding tax and repatriation strategies and support cross-border joint ventures with asset manager partners. Ensure alignment with evolving international tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Governance, Risk & Controls: Establish and maintain a robust tax governance and risk management framework. Manage relationships with external advisors, including Big 4 firms, legal counsel, and specialist advisors. Engage with tax authorities where required and ensure that all tax structures are compliant, defensible, and aligned with the long-term platform strategy.
- Strategy & Business Partnering: Collaborate closely with executive leadership, capital markets, and strategy teams to inform capital structuring decisions, optimise investor returns, and shape long-term platform economics. Support cash flow planning and capital allocation decisions from a tax perspective, and partner with accounting and finance teams to ensure alignment between tax strategy and financial reporting.
- Scaling & Function Build: Build and scale the tax function in line with business growth. Establish processes, controls, and documentation to support a multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction platform, and drive continuous improvement across tax processes, systems, and reporting.
Experience & Qualifications: You bring significant tax experience from private equity or infrastructure funds, ideally within high-growth sectors, alongside exposure to real assets, energy, or digital infrastructure. You have a proven track record of structuring complex cross-border investments and deep expertise in international tax, financing structures, and investment structuring. Experience operating in a high-growth or scaling environment is essential.
Skills & Attributes: You have a strong commercial mindset and understand the impact of tax decisions on returns and capital efficiency. You are comfortable building structure and processes from scratch and can operate effectively at both a strategic and execution level. You are motivated to build and develop a team as the business grows. You demonstrate strong judgment and integrity, particularly in complex, high-stakes environments, and are collaborative and solutions-oriented, with the ability to influence across finance, legal, and executive stakeholders.
Desirable Requirements: Experience within infrastructure, energy, data centres, or other capital-intensive industries is highly beneficial. Familiarity with US and European tax environments is important, ideally with some exposure to public company environments. Experience supporting fundraising, investor structuring, and capital deployment strategies, as well as working within high-growth or rapidly scaling organisations, would be advantageous.
