The Company
A London-based Alternative Investment Fund Manager is currently going through an IP, building a next-generation electronic FX (EFX) execution platform from the ground up. With senior quants already driving strategy design, the team is expanding with a Java developer to support the build of core systems, connectivity, and execution infrastructure.
This is a rare chance to join a greenfield build inside a buy-side fund, gaining direct exposure to real-time trading systems without needing prior quant or strategy design experience.
Role Overview
As a Java Developer, you\’ll work closely with quant developers and senior engineers to:
• Build and maintain core components of the EFX execution platform.
• Implement connectivity to liquidity providers (LPs), venues, and market data feeds.
• Support development of order management and trade lifecycle processes (OMS/EMS/RMS).
• Contribute to performance improvements in low-latency Java systems.
• Gain exposure to trading systems and market microstructure in G5 FX.
Essential Skills
• Solid core Java development skills (concurrency, multithreading, performance).
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and low-latency system design.
• Eagerness to work in financial markets technology (no prior finance experience required).
• Problem-solving mindset with ability to learn from senior engineers.
Nice-to-Haves
• Familiarity with FIX protocol or market connectivity.
• Prior exposure to trading platforms, financial APIs, or messaging systems.
• Interest in electronic trading, FX, or financial engineering.
