    • Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify critical systems and dependencies
    • Establish and maintain recovery objectives (RTOs and RPOs) in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders
  • Implementation & Governance
    • Develop, implement, and maintain DR policies, standards, and procedures
    • Ensure DR solutions are embedded across infrastructure, applications, and data environments
    • Integrate DR planning with third-party vendors and cloud platforms
  • Testing & Continuous Improvement
    • Lead regular DR testing, simulations, and failover exercises
    • Analyse outcomes, document findings, and drive continuous improvement
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards (e.g. ISO 22301, GDPR)
  • Monitoring & Reporting
    • Track DR readiness and provide regular reporting to senior leadership
    • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of critical systems and recovery capabilities
    • Lead post-incident reviews and implement lessons learned
  • Training & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Deliver training and awareness sessions across IT and business teams
    • Act as a subject-matter expert for DR best practices and emerging technologies

Essentials

  • Proven experience in IT disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT risk management
  • Strong understanding of DR technologies (backup, replication, cloud recovery)
  • Experience defining and managing RTO/RPO frameworks
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 22301, NIST, or ITIL
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

Bonus skills you may pack in your suitcase

  • Experience in hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. CBCP, ITIL, CISSP)
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture and IT service management

What Success Looks Like

  • DR plans are tested, validated, and continuously improved
  • Critical systems can be restored within agreed RTO/RPO targets
  • The organisation demonstrates strong resilience and audit readiness
  • Stakeholders are confident in DR processes and response capability
