What will you be doing?
As our Kitchen Lead, you will
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen and meal service.
- Support and manage the kitchen team, making sure everyone knows what needs to be done.
- Prepare the kitchen and dining areas for lunchtime service.
- Ensure meals are stored, heated and served safely and hygienically.
- Monitor food temperatures, refrigeration and heating equipment.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the kitchen, equipment and dining areas.
- Manage menus and maintain accurate allergy information.
- Order food, equipment and supplies and oversee deliveries.
- Ensure food and other supplies are stored safely and appropriately.
- Complete the necessary food safety, COSHH, health and safety and compliance records.
- Work positively with children and school staff to create a welcoming lunchtime environment.
- Report any safeguarding concerns in line with school procedures.
What are we looking for?
You don't need to have worked in a school before, but you will need experience of catering, food preparation or food service and a genuine interest in working around children.

- you'll need to communicate clearly and confidently with children, staff, suppliers and other visitors.
A Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification would be great, but if you don't have one, we will support you to achieve it . Basic First Aid and previous experience of working with children would also be advantageous.
