We are seeking an experienced Senior Employment Counsel to join our global legal team. This role will provide strategic legal guidance across employment law matters, manage and lead external counsel globally, and serve as a critical partner to HR and executive leadership. The ideal candidate brings a global mindset, sharp legal judgment, and the ability to operate with confidence in a dynamic environment spanning multiple jurisdictions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Advise on complex employment law issues across the UK, EMEA, Europe, and Australia.
  • Serve as the lead legal partner to HR on day-to-day matters, including employee relations, investigations, terminations, performance management, and compensation practices.
  • Interpret and implement employment policies to align with local laws and global consistency goals.
  • Lead the strategy and relationship with external counsel, providing oversight rather than delegation — ensuring tailored, business-focused legal advice.
  • Support global compliance with evolving labor regulations, including wage and hour laws, remote work, DE&I, contractor classification, and workplace safety.
  • Manage employment disputes, litigation, and pre-litigation matters across jurisdictions.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders, particularly HR and business leaders, on employment law trends and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate closely with the broader legal team on cross-functional matters that touch employment (e.g., M&A, privacy, IP).
  • Thrive in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where flexibility and proactive problem-solving are key.

What You’ll Need:

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent UK jurisdiction), with a valid practising certificate.
  • 7+ years of post-qualification experience in employment law, ideally combining private practice and in-house roles within multinational organizations.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and international employment laws, including US, Europe, EMEA, and Australia.
  • Proven experience managing and guiding external counsel across multiple jurisdictions, including the ability to challenge advice where necessary.
  • Trusted advisor to HR and leadership teams, with a practical, business-focused approach to employment law issues.
  • Comfortable working across time zones, including out-of-hours collaboration with global teams.
  • Highly adaptable and proactive, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Applicants must be based in the UK, ideally within a commutable distance to Paddington, London (we have a 3 days in-office per week hybrid policy).

What we offer

  • An excellent salary package.
  • Generous company pension plan.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Group life assurance.
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing to 28 days after 3 years of service.
  • Quarterly mental health days.
  • Monthly no-meeting Fridays.
