Statom Group and Franki Foundations UK are looking for a Full Time Piling Engineer that will be prepared to travel from project to project. This is a long term role. You will be given a van and fuel card as well as your own setting out equipment and you will be expected to complete all surveying and QA tasks on the project. This is a great opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team on some really exciting projects, using cutting edge, Rotary, CFA and Martello piling rigs.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Right to work in the UK
  • At least 5 years setting out experience
  • At least 2 years Piling Experience CFA/Rotary
  • Valid, Clean Driving Licence - Willing to travel from project across the South of England
  • Ability to set up secondary control
  • Ability to utilise Leica TS16 Robotic
  • Ability to use Fieldview and good understanding of QA requirements for piling
  • Experience with pile reinforcement cages and couplers

As a piling Engineer you will need to be competent and will be responsible for delivering all of the tasks below - autonomously.

Requirements for Full-time Setting Out Engineers on SFA / CFA contracts:

  • Setting out of pile positions for the days ahead to sequence as agreed on site level
  • Checking of setting out pin prior to commencement of piling on pile location
  • Checking positional tolerance of auger (+/-75mm max.*) at commencement of drilling by shooting the laser at the stem of the auger itself
  • Spot checking of PPL’s across site at commencement of piling works to each area, and as requested as works proceed
  • Checking and recording TOS levels of pile cages
  • Checking and recording as-builts of pile positions
  • Assisting Franki/Martello site foreman with checking of pile schedule for foam levels, PPL’s and PCOL’s where requested
  • Provision of as-built’s in excel format the following day (as-built to capture TOS level, pin as-built, pile as-built and any deviations from design) notifying us of any instances where tolerances are exceeded
  • Where guidewalls are used on site, checking of level of guidewall and production of as-built survey of guidewall (as this would be required to check whether positional tolerance of piles can be met for wall piles)
  • Where plunge columns are required, checking and understanding of project specific tolerances, setting out of guide frame (where applicable) ensuring correct column orientation and recording as-built of column position (location and angle or orientation), verticality, level and level check the following day where possible. Data to be related to engineers offices for inclusion in to as-built drawing model if requested by Franki.
  • Setting out Engineers remain responsible for security and maintenance of their own equipment. Franki Foundations UK confirm that we cannot be held responsible for any Lost or Stolen equipment unless it can be proven that we have acted in a negligent manner.

Requirements for Full-time Setting Out Engineers on Rotary / Martello Piling contracts:

  • Setting out of pile positions for the days ahead to sequence as agreed on site level

  • Checking casing verticality during installation
  • Spot checking of PPL’s across site at commencement of piling works to each area, and as requested as works proceed
  • Checking and recording TOS levels of pile cages
  • Checking and recording as-builts of pile positions
  • Assisting Franki/Martello site foreman with checking of pile schedule for foam levels, pile depths, PPL’s and PCOL’s where requested
  • Provision of as-built’s in excel format the following day (as-built to capture TOS level, pin as-built, pile as-built and any deviations from design) notifying us of any instances where tolerances are exceeded
  • Where guidewalls are used on site, checking of level of guidewall and production of as-built survey of guidewall (as this would be required to check whether positional tolerance of piles can be met for wall piles)

*Although 75mm is the usual allowable tolerance, +/-60mm should be a reasonable target to work within and would target for good practice. The As-built records sent through on a daily basis (the following day) will still highlight where 75mm has been exceeded between design and as-built of pile.
