Working in Proprietary Trading at Statkraft offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing company that is at the forefront of the energy transition, while gaining valuable experience in the fast-paced and exciting world of energy trading. We are seeking a seasoned Strategist/Trader to generate value through Proprietary Trading in the Cross Commodity Team—focused on Power markets. The ideal candidate is skilled in power fundamentals with the desire to bring their analysis to conclusions to derive trade ideas. We also require this individual to excel under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This will be a full-time position based in either Dusseldorf, London, or Oslo, reporting into the Head of Cross Commodity Trading.
Responsibilities
- Analyse market fundamentals and run new and existing statistical and S/D models.
- Explore innovative analysis approaches and strategies that will directly add value to our PnL.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable trading insights.
- Directly contribute to scaling up the team’s risk-taking capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with team members, internal and external analysis functions to refine and leverage know-how and market views.
Qualifications
- University degree in Mathematics, Economics, Science or similar.
- Proven track record in fundamental analysis of the European Power markets.
- Direct exposure to commercial aspects of trading, trade idea generation and risk management a plus.
- Strong programming skills in Python, experience working with analytics tooling, data pipelines and automation.
- Comfortable using modern AI tools, ability to incorporate AI-supported workflows into day-to-day tasks, understanding of how AI/ML outputs can be applied in the context of power-market fundamentals.
- Continuous improvement mindset with high level of initiative and motivation.
- Reliable team player with the ability to engage in effective and direct communication.
