We're working with a well-established organisation looking to strengthen its technology function with the addition of an Infrastructure & Security Engineer. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership across infrastructure, cloud, networking, and security, supporting a modern multi-site environment spanning head office, operational locations, and customer-facing technology platforms. You'll work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders while contributing to the delivery of secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure solutions that underpin critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support across infrastructure and security technologies
  • Maintain and optimise Microsoft environments including Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Windows Server, and Active Directory
  • Support and enhance virtualised infrastructure using VMware technologies
  • Manage and improve network infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless, and firewall technologies
  • Lead vulnerability management, security remediation, and compliance initiatives
  • Support identity and access management, endpoint security, and threat protection activities
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and business continuity initiatives
  • Work with internal teams and third-party suppliers to deliver infrastructure improvements and security enhancements
  • Support and secure end-user technologies across corporate, retail, and operational environments, including device deployment through Intune and Autopilot
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures
  • Support ongoing infrastructure modernisation and continuous improvement projects

Required Experience

  • Experience in an Infrastructure Engineer, Infrastructure Analyst, Systems Engineer, or similar role
  • Strong Microsoft infrastructure experience including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, and Intune
  • Experience supporting virtualised environments using VMware technologies
  • Good understanding of networking principles including TCP/IP, switching, routing, wireless networking, and firewalls
  • Experience with vulnerability management, endpoint security, and patch management
  • Knowledge of identity and access management, including MFA and role-based access controls
  • Experience supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Exposure to Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, or other security tooling
  • Experience working within PCI-DSS, NIST, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks
  • PowerShell scripting experience
  • Experience with Cisco networking technologies and Meraki environments
  • Experience supporting retail, hospitality, leisure, or other customer-facing multi-site environments
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust security principles
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar
  • Microsoft, Azure, or Cisco certifications
  • Exposure to automation tools such as Azure CLI or Terraform
