About the Role
Our Portsmouth based client are seeking a Lead Business Analyst to join their growing team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work 2-3 days a week on-site, with flexibility for remote working. As a Lead Business Analyst, you will play a key role in shaping, maturing, and elevating the Business Analysis (BA) function across the organisation, while remaining hands-on and directly involved in the delivery of strategic and complex technology projects.
The Lead Business Analyst will lead by example, delivering high-quality analysis, mentoring team members, and driving best practices and standards across the BA community. This is an exciting opportunity to influence and build a scalable BA capability in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Shape the BA Function:
- Define and implement standards, tools, and frameworks to mature the BA practice.
- Establish a shared understanding of best practices and consistent documentation/analysis approaches.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of business analysts.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the BA team.
- Work directly with stakeholders across business and technology teams to gather, analyse, and document business and system requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder meetings to define and prioritise needs.
- Translate business problems into clear and concise requirements for solution design and delivery.
- Support the delivery lifecycle from inception through to implementation and post-launch review.
- Lead analysis work across multiple projects concurrently, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, ensuring clarity and quality of requirements and proposed solutions.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience in a senior or lead business analysis role within a technology project environment.
- Strong experience working on digital, data or transformation programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Experience working across the full project lifecycle, including Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on delivery mindset.
- Comfortable managing priorities across multiple projects simultaneously.
Desirable:
- Experience in mentoring or line management of other Business Analysts.
- Knowledge of tools such as Jira, Confluence, and business process modelling tools.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., BCS, IIBA, Agile BA, or equivalent).
