A housing organisation is looking to hire a Data Specialist to help improve how data is structured, reported and used across the business. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data at a technical level and wants to be involved in building and improving a data environment from the ground up. Historically there has not been a formal data strategy in place, so this role offers the chance to work closely with an experienced data lead to help shape how data is managed and delivered going forward.
Data currently sits across multiple systems and reporting is largely delivered through SQL Server and SSRS, so the initial focus of the role will be improving reporting reliability, building data pipelines and helping bring greater structure to how data is used across the organisation. The role is mainly remote, with occasional visits to offices in Glasgow or Edinburgh when required.
Key responsibilities- Develop and maintain data pipelines pulling data from multiple operational systems
- Build and improve reporting using SQL Server and SSRS
- Investigate and resolve data issues, ensuring reporting accuracy and reliability
- Work with stakeholders across the organisation to understand reporting requirements
- Help improve the structure and organisation of datasets used for reporting and analysis
- Contribute to the gradual development of a more structured data environment and future data strategy
Core technologies currently include: SQL Server, SSRS. Additional technologies used or being considered: Azure, PowerShell, Python.

- Experience building or maintaining reports (SSRS, Power BI or similar tools)
- Experience working with data from multiple systems
- Ability to investigate data issues and improve data quality
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Exposure to Azure, PowerShell or Python would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Opportunity to help shape a developing data environment
- Work closely with an experienced data professional
- Exposure to multiple systems and datasets across the organisation
- Chance to build new processes rather than just maintain existing ones
