  • Overview

We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Manager - Technology to lead the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of our technology platforms, infrastructure and technical services.

As a key member of the Technology Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in translating business strategy into technology outcomes, ensuring that services are secure, resilient, scalable and cost-effective.

Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will drive operational excellence, support strategic transformation initiatives and help shape the future technology landscape.

  • Key Accountabilities
  • Technology Operations & Service Delivery
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of technology services across infrastructure, networks, platforms, end-user services and core business systems.
  • Ensure high levels of availability, performance and resilience across all technology services.
  • Own and continuously improve IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, including incident, problem, change and service request management.
  • Drive adoption of modern service management practices, including monitoring, observability, automation and proactive operational management.
  • Foster a service reliability mindset across technology teams.
  • Platform, Infrastructure & Cloud
  • Oversee infrastructure, hosting and cloud services, ensuring platforms remain secure, scalable and cost-effective.
  • Support the development and execution of cloud and platform strategies.
  • Champion modern infrastructure practices, including automation, Dev Ops alignment and infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
  • Ensure effective lifecycle management and optimisation of technology platforms.
  • Security, Risk & Operational Resilience
  • Maintain and enhance the organisation's technology security posture.
  • Lead cybersecurity monitoring, controls and incident response activities.
  • Oversee Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery capabilities, ensuring resilience targets are achieved.
  • Embed operational resilience principles and ensure services remain within agreed impact tolerances.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for major security and resilience incidents.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Develop and maintain technology policies, standards and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements and best practice.
  • Ensure effective first-line risk ownership within Technology.
  • Lead internal and external audit activities, delivering successful outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain robust documentation, controls and compliance processes.
  • Financial & Supplier Management
  • Manage technology operational budgets and support strategic planning activities.
  • Develop strong relationships with third-party suppliers and service providers, ensuring performance and contractual obligations are met.
  • Lead technology procurement activities and contribute to vendor strategy.
  • Drive cost optimisation initiatives while maximising value from technology investments.
  • Strategic Leadership
  • Support the CIO in shaping and delivering the Technology, Digital and Data strategy.
  • Contribute to technology transformation programmes, digital innovation and AI adoption initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders and technology teams to align services with organisational objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting and insight on service performance, risks, security, resilience and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant technology leadership experience, typically gained over 10-15 years or more in progressively senior roles.
  • Proven success delivering technology strategy and operational excellence in complex environments.
  • Experience within Financial Services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong understanding of modern technology ecosystems including cloud platforms, infrastructure, service management and operational support.
  • Demonstrable experience leading technology operations, platform services or infrastructure functions.
  • Experience managing large-scale technology change and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership and executive level.
  • Experience managing third‑party vendors and strategic technology suppliers.
  • Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands‑on operational leadership in a fast‑paced environment.

Desirable Qualifications & Knowledge

  • ITIL v4 certification or equivalent.
  • CISSP, CISM or similar security qualification.
  • Cloud certifications such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Experience of technology business management (TBM) or technology financial management frameworks.
  • Knowledge of risk management, governance and audit practices.
