  • Role Purpose

To ensure the care home remains safe, well-maintained, clean and compliant by carrying out day-to-day maintenance, repairs and preventative maintenance, while supporting the comfort and wellbeing of residents.

  • Daily Responsibilities
  • - Carry out general repairs throughout the home, including plumbing, decorating, carpentry and basic maintenance.
  • - Complete routine safety checks and preventative maintenance on the building and equipment.
  • - Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and management.
  • - Ensure resident bedrooms and communal areas are kept in good repair.
  • - Replace light bulbs, repair doors, locks, handles, furniture and fixtures.
  • - Assemble furniture and install shelving, noticeboards and equipment as required.
  • - Carry out regular inspections of the building and report any defects requiring specialist contractors.
  • - Support statutory compliance by undertaking and recording routine checks (e. g. fire doors, water temperatures, emergency lighting, wheelchairs, beds and equipment where appropriate).
  • - Liaise with external contractors and supervise works when required.
  • - Ensure all work is completed safely in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • - Assist with room preparations and refurbishment between admissions where required.
  • - Undertake any other reasonable maintenance duties requested by the Home Manager.

Approximately 10-15 hours per week (flexible on days).

Additional hours may be available for larger projects or emergencies.
