Overview
The Product Innovation role will be a member of the International Product Innovation team supporting the development and range management of State Street Investment Management (SSIM) EMEA ETFs & Pooled Funds. This includes the research, design, and build of new active and index ETFs & Pooled Funds across SSIM’s range of investment capabilities. The International Product team is part of SSIM’s Global Product Innovation team, which operates within the Chief Business Office (CBO), supporting the Client Coverage Group and Global Investment team to research, design, and deliver innovative products and solutions to SSIM’s clients across asset classes and investment styles, including sustainable investing.
The Product Innovation role will collaborate with colleagues in the Global Investment teams, portfolio strategists, sales specialists, client/consultant-facing teams, Capital Markets, and the broader Global Innovation Product team to drive our ETF & Pooled Funds agenda.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver new EMEA-domiciled ETFs & Pooled Funds to support SSIM EMEA Institutional and Intermediary clients and prospects, aligned with SSIM’s overall strategy and business priorities.
- Develop, support, and execute SSIM’s EMEA product roadmap and contribute insights to the global product roadmap, including sustainable investing initiatives.
- Execute the product strategy, develop business cases, design product features, and coordinate launches. Work cross-functionally to develop and position the firm\'s EMEA product range.
- Analyze market research and understand the competitive landscape to identify market trends and potential new product opportunities.
- Understand the needs of SSIM’s EMEA institutional and intermediary clients and prospects, the market opportunities, and how best to respond using SSIM’s investment capabilities.
- Manage the full product lifecycle of the existing range of funds; analyze and, where appropriate, adjust pricing, positioning, and operating models to ensure they remain market-leading products; merge or close products if needed.
- Build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with the Global Product Innovation team and key internal and external business partners.
- Contribute to and produce key management reports to support a strong governance process and ensure accountability for the Product Innovation team.
Key Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in product development, design, or as a product strategist/investment strategist with a demonstrable track record of delivering successful outcomes, preferably in the ETF industry
- In-depth knowledge of the Fixed Income product landscape and investment strategies.
- Familiarity with the regulatory environment, including MiFID, UCITS, AIFMD, BMR, and SFDR, and client demand.
- Experience and knowledge across all elements of the product development process: research, strategy, structuring, launch coordination, and product lifecycle management.
- Stakeholder management skills to lead complex projects with stakeholders across multiple teams and geographies.
- Strong capabilities in researching and analyzing market trends and intelligence to support product strategy and design, including experience using third-party databases.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze, escalate, find viable alternatives, and recommend solutions.
- Highly effective relationship-building and strong collaborative skills across all levels and teams within a global business.
- Ability to be persuasive and articulate in presenting complex ideas and issues to teams across the business in a clear and succinct way, including presentations to the Funds’ Product Committees and Boards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Advanced skills in Bloomberg, Morningstar, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
