State Street Global Market/Globallink is hiring a Senior Network Engineer in our London, UK office.
Why this role is important to us: The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical engineering and operational support for the implementation, testing, integration, interoperability for a global low latency and high frequency FX exchange networks. This role also includes operational and support responsibilities like troubleshooting complex incidents in a timely and accurate fashion with vendors.
What you will be responsible for:
- Design, configure, and implement changes on the State Street Global Market/Ggloballink global ECN network. Global Enterprise experience a MUST.
- Engineering tasks will include providing high level designs and design packages for OSPF/BGP, within the enterprise network and external connectivity with vendors, clients, and Internet.
- Candidates must understand the requirements and security in building external vendor networks.
- Interact with vendors and define connectivity requirements.
- Work with vendors’ network team to solve any connectivity and security issues.
- Define network connectivity requirements and present a cohesive design and implementation plan to the upper management.
- Create and maintain status reports for management, utilizing visual aids when necessary (Visio documentation for management and engineering).
- Strong understanding of routing protocols, clear knowledge of advanced network designs, must be able to supply various resilient connectivity solutions.
- Enterprise Level BGP and OSPF Integration with a clear understanding of BGP route reflectors.
- Proficient with working with BGP community attributes.
- Ability to look at a configuration and determine if it will work before it is deployed.
- Understand the implications of the network changes to be implemented.
- Resolve complex network issues, such as routing loops, complex BGP & OSPF routing issues, analyzing network device event logs etc.
- Enterprise-wide expertise, from Multi-Homed Internet to Multi-Link Private lines to vendors.
- Demonstrate extensive LAN experience and a good understanding of all levels of OSI.
- Explain, understand and implement spanning tree and how it relates to L2/L3 networking.
- Fortinet Firewall engineering and administration.
- F5 Load balancer engineering and administration.
- Understand security and TCP/IP flow troubleshooting.
- Proficiency on Linux OS and file management – AI, Python or other script skills is required.
- Knowledge of AWS cloud architecture and operation supports experience.

Education & Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor degrees in engineering, computer Science or related industry (or equivalent experience).
- 5-8 years of experience preferably with distributed applications and systems.
- Deep working knowledge of network protocols, especially TCP/IP.
- Experience in monitoring tools, scripting, and Internet security.
- Knowledgeability of industry standard best practices regarding network security.
- Strong understanding in at least one leading cloud provider, AWS preferred.
- Working knowledge of modern routing protocols.
- Experience in a fast-paced, self-driven, fun, 24/7 environment.
- Security certifications and/or equivalent work experience.
- Solid communication and collaboration skills.
Additional requirements:
- Occasional travel co-location data center at London is required.
- Hybrid remote working and office.
- Requires participating in the on-call rotation.
