We’re looking for someone with a tax advisory background who can blend strong tax technical interpretation with commercial pragmatism to be our regional lead for Tax Product in EMEA. You will be of flexible disposition and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where your responsibility spans across major projects, product and service design, tax technical risk oversight, and direct contact with clients across the EMEA region and beyond.
Job Specifications:
- Drive custody and fund tax services’ strategic direction in the EMEA region, weighing tax technical and operational risks with commercial opportunities and client deliverables.
- Work closely with partners in Product, Operations, Technology, and Corporate functions to execute business unit strategy, product and geographic expansion efforts, and a scalable technology and operating model solution.
- Engage and develop relationships with key clients and third parties including consultants and tax advisors.
- Identify market leading technology solutions for custody and funds tax and drive business case for investment in tax systems (e.g. buy or build).
- Act as a tax product lead for RFPs and represent State Street in client pitches together with senior business owners. Lead standardisation of custody and funds tax presentations and marketing materials from a global and regional perspective.
- Through active engagement with industry associations and private/public forums on tax matters, drive initiatives aimed at simplifying tax operational processes and opportunities for tax optimisation.
- Act as the Product lead for any product development requirements arising from new EMEA regulations, including (but not limited to) EU FASTER and German MikaDiv.
Job Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of fund or custody tax experience; excellent knowledge of multiple withholding tax and funds tax regimes across the EMEA region.
- Demonstrable leadership skills and the ability to positively influence colleagues in other functional areas, including non-tax professionals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain complex tax matters in concise, accurate, layperson terms.
- Qualification in tax, law, or accounting essential (CTA, legal qualification, or CA/CPA)
