State Street Investment Management’s Business & Technology Risk and Resilience (BTRR) team is a first‑line function that partners with business teams to manage operational, technology, and regulatory risk, along with business and technology resiliency. The Business Risk Partners are aligned to both IM business functions and specific regions to support our global operating model. They act as operational risk experts advising stakeholders on risk programs and ongoing risk mitigation.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain deep subject‑matter knowledge of business line control activities, operating model, strategy, and key initiatives and apply this insight to content, themes, and priorities.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with key business function leaders, instilling confidence through credibility and expertise on core programs.
- Educate stakeholders on designing and implementing an effective controls framework, addressing weaknesses and responding to emerging risks.
- Review and challenge Incident and Issue content in the workflow to ensure alignment between root cause, risk materiality/likelihood, and required corrective actions.
- Lead Risk & Controls Self‑Assessment workshops to determine inherent risk ratings and control effectiveness ratings for the Business Unit, guiding the re‑designed RCSA process and process mapping.
- Conduct trend analysis on incidents and issues to identify root‑cause themes and recommend focused risk assessments and control enhancements.
- Assist the business line in addressing findings and potential risk exposures identified by SLOD Operational Risk, TLOD Corporate Audit, external audit, and regulators.
- Coordinate risk assessments and validate consistency with SLOD and TLOD on overall risk posture.
- Participate in new product launches and process implementation projects offering risk‑exposure expertise and control design.
- Conduct status meetings with business line partners to discuss open incidents, issues, and emerging risks, directing inquiries to BTRR framework partners when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in financial services, preferably within a large firm or advisory/consulting firm, including internal audit, public accounting, risk, or compliance roles.
- Experience in risk management, regulatory compliance, or control programs.
- Knowledge of common risk‑management frameworks and methodologies.
- Independent strategic thinker with understanding of regulatory, operational, and technology risks in financial services, preferably within investment management.
- Strong organizational awareness, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills; ability to make risk‑optimized decisions under time pressure.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills and ability to work on global cross‑functional projects.
- Strong ability to lead through influence and collaborate to drive results within the organization.
- Ability to manage and coach teams for efficient, high‑quality deliverables.
- Experience working with remote offshore and regional teams.
- Willingness to operate flexible hours to accommodate team meetings across time zones.
- Self‑motivated professional able to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and process mapping tools.
