Strategy and Business Development, Wealth Services, Vice President
State Street is inviting applications for the Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Wealth Services position.
Overview: The Vice President, Strategy and Business Development for Wealth Services will report to the Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development for Wealth Services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the growth strategy for a substantial market‑leading offering through driving strategic and business development initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic and operating planning processes in partnership with business leaders.
- Conduct regular market and competitive research to build a market‑leading view of the global ecosystem of wealth services providers.
- Identify strategic partners and work with enterprise M&A teams to evaluate minority investment and acquisition opportunities.
- Support business leaders in executing strategic partnerships with clients, fintech firms, custodians, data providers, and other third parties.
- Assist in finalizing contractual arrangements.
- Plan and execute business development initiatives in collaboration with senior management and product management, including identifying potential acquisition targets.
- Perform chief of staff responsibilities for the head of the department, including:
- Administration and delivery of clear goals and metrics (OKRs) for Wealth Services Strategy and business development.
- Developing materials for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with Global Head of the business.
- Supporting Business Intelligence Projects in partnership with teams such as finance and talent.
Ideal Competencies & Experience:
- Proven record of supporting M&A transactions and crafting strategic alliances, partnerships, and investments.
- Extensive experience modeling Pro Forma financials reflecting revenue and cost implications of strategic partnerships.
- Exposure to the wealth management servicing industry with ability to translate industry/client themes into actionable strategy.
- Ability to deliver across complex multi‑functional projects.
- Customer orientation allowing solicitation of information from customers regarding current and future needs.
Education & Preferred Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree minimum; graduate degree/MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of related experience preferably within the Financial Services industry.
- Top‑tier investment banking, business development, or corporate development experience preferred.
- Ability to lead, prioritize and execute on multiple simultaneous priorities.
- Strong delivery‑focused mindset; ability to work on multiple initiatives in parallel, thinking both tactically and strategically.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Superb business judgment and ability to think through complex business issues.
- Critical assessment capability—ability to maintain a high bar and deliver excellence.
