To support the UK MLRO / EMEA Head of Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) in the effective discharge of regulatory responsibilities, and the delivery of the FCC programme in the UK. The role provides independent oversight, expert advice, and constructive challenge to the business, to ensure financial crime risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed in line with the firm’s risk appetite and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide independent second line oversight and advisory support across AML, sanctions and broader financial crime risks.
  • Support the design, implementation, and ongoing effectiveness of the UK FCC programme across all business lines.
  • Advise and challenge business and compliance stakeholders on complex financial crime risk matters.
  • Support the UK MLRO in regulatory decision‑making, reviews, approvals and issue escalation of the following (but not limited to): Customer / enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring; Sanctions, PEP and negative news screening / assessments; Policy exception waivers.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a multi‑year financial crimes compliance strategy, aligned to regulatory expectations and business objectives.
  • Assist in the execution of local and enterprise wide AML and sanctions risk assessments and related reporting.
  • Represent FCC at governance forums and cross‑functional committees, providing subject matter expertise and credible challenge.
  • Support regulatory examinations, inquiries, and other supervisory engagements relating to financial crime.
  • Identify emerging financial crime risks, and support the development of proportionate and risk‑based solutions.
  • Support and advise business with new business proposals approval requests and flag any financial crime concerns.
  • Other ad-hoc key initiatives that relate to new business opportunities and emerging financial crime risks.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • 7 years plus FCC experience, including providing financial crime compliance advisory services to the business.
  • Previously worked in a bank (e.g. investment, corporate, asset manager or retail).
  • Knowledge of wider financial crime risks e.g., bribery and corruption, money laundering / counter terrorist financing and sanctions.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with UK’s financial crime regulatory framework.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Curiosity.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Common sense.
  • ACAMS or ICA certification preferred.
