State Street Global Technology Services (GTS) is seeking an accomplished and experienced Business Technology Risk Advisor - Managing Director to partner with CTO/Technology Infrastructure leadership in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risk. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in technology risk management, process improvement, and governance, with a proven ability to lead transformational initiatives and strengthen risk and control environments.
Global Technology Services (GTS) is a critical enabler of State Street's business strategy, delivering the technology platforms, infrastructure, and capabilities that support our clients and operations. As the organisation continues its digital transformation journey, this role will help ensure that risks are effectively managed while enabling innovation and business growth. The First Line Risk and Control (FLRC) function serves as an independent first-line partner to GTS leadership, working closely with CIOs and stakeholders to strengthen risk management practices, enhance controls, and support regulatory and operational resilience objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic technology risk advisory support to CTO leadership.
- Lead risk reduction and control enhancement initiatives.
- Drive process improvements to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and utilise metrics and management information to inform decision-making.
- Partner with Second and Third Line functions to ensure alignment on risk management objectives.
- Support regulatory, audit, and governance activities across the technology organisation.
- Extensive experience in technology risk management, controls, audit, or operational risk.
- Extensive experience in ITAM (Hardware & Software), Database and Open Systems Management.
- Strong knowledge of software development, infrastructure, cloud technologies, and cybersecurity practices.
- Proven leadership experience managing large-scale risk and transformation programmes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, ability to act fast.
- Ability to influence senior executives and drive execution across complex organisations.
- Proven track record in building out a high functioning team with mixed backgrounds.
- SDLC methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, DevOps)
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Infrastructure and network technologies
- Cybersecurity risk management
- Technology governance and risk frameworks (COBIT, NIST, ITIL)
- RSA Archer and ServiceNow ITSM preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Risk Management, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in risk management, Infrastructure Operations or technology governance, including at least 10 years in leadership roles.
