We are seeking an experienced Senior UI Architect to lead the design, governance, and evolution of modern front-end technology platforms and digital user experiences. The successful candidate will define UI architecture standards, drive technical strategy, and lead engineering teams in delivering scalable, secure, accessible, and high-performing web applications. This role combines hands-on architectural leadership with strategic technology planning. The Senior UI Architect will partner with Product, UX, Engineering, Security, and Enterprise Architecture teams to establish modern digital foundations that support business growth and exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture & Technical Leadership
    • Define and maintain the enterprise UI architecture vision, roadmap, and standards.
    • Design scalable front-end architectures for customer-facing and internal digital platforms.
    • Establish architecture principles, coding standards, design patterns, and best practices.
    • Review solution designs and provide architectural governance across programmes and projects.
    • Lead technical decision-making for front-end frameworks, state management, API integration patterns, and deployment strategies.
  • Digital Experience Strategy
    • Drive the adoption of modern web technologies and composable architecture patterns.
    • Define strategies for responsive, accessible, and mobile-first user experiences.
    • Partner with UX teams to ensure designs are technically feasible and optimised for performance.
    • Champion customer-centric digital experiences that align with business objectives.
  • Engineering Excellence
    • Guide development teams through architectural implementation and technical challenges.
    • Establish CI/CD, testing, observability, and quality engineering practices for UI applications.
    • Lead performance optimisation initiatives, including Core Web Vitals improvements.
    • Ensure maintainability, scalability, and resilience of front-end solutions.
  • Enterprise Integration
    • Define integration patterns between UI channels and backend services.
    • Collaborate with API, platform, cloud, and security architects.
    • Establish authentication and authorisation standards using enterprise identity platforms.
    • Support integration with CMS, DAM, analytics, personalisation, and search platforms.
  • Security, Risk & Compliance
    • Ensure solutions meet enterprise security, regulatory, privacy, and compliance requirements.
    • Embed secure-by-design principles within frontend architecture.
    • Partner with cybersecurity and risk teams during solution reviews and audits.
  • Mentorship & Leadership
    • Mentor senior engineers, technical leads, and solution architects.
    • Lead architecture communities of practice and technical forums.
    • Influence engineering roadmaps and technology investment decisions.
    • Drive continuous improvement and innovation across teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant focus on front-end technologies.
  • 5+ years in an architecture or technical leadership role.
  • Proven experience designing enterprise-scale web platforms and digital experiences.
