We are looking for a Vice President (VP II), Investment Strategy & Research (IS&R) to join our Europe team, based in London. This role sits within a multi-asset investment research and strategy function that supports client engagement, distribution, and solution development across the region. This team works collaboratively with colleagues across the investment team, client facing teams and other stakeholders to develop thought leadership, support client requests, engage in research projects and provide other collateral and services that demonstrate our firm’s value as an essential investment partner.
The successful candidate will play a key role in generating and translating investment research into actionable insights, identifying market trends, supporting thought leadership, bespoke client solutions, and strategic conversations with institutional and intermediary clients. The role requires close collaboration with global and regional investment teams, portfolio managers, sales, and marketing partners. This position is well-suited for a curious, analytically strong, and commercially aware investment professional who is comfortable operating in a global organization and engaging across cultures and functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Investment, Business, Client Coverage, and Marketing teams to drive client engagement through multiple channels including:
- Develop high conviction thought leadership that drives value for our clients and reinforces our position as a critical investment partner.
- Partner with distribution and marketing teams to ensure consistent and effective amplification of key investment messages.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key internal stakeholders across investments, research, sales, and marketing.
- Incubate and develop investment research ideas aligned with SSIM’s global and regional priorities.
- Identify opportunities to motivate consideration of our product sets and drive business results including actively participating in key client and prospect meetings.
- Represent SSIM in industry conferences and with media channels.
- Provide high quality investment insights.
- Provide key inputs into the firm’s market views as well as targeted thematic investing ideas.
- Translate complex investment analysis into clear, relevant, and actionable insights for internal and external audiences.
- Leverage data analytics and modeling tools to support research outputs and investment insights.
- Deliver high-quality written thought leadership, presentations, and client materials.
- Present research findings confidently to internal stakeholders, sales teams, and clients as required.
- Work closely with portfolio managers, portfolio strategists, and global research teams to validate and socialize research outputs.
Qualifications:
- Academic background in finance, economics, business or a related field.
- CFA/CAIA charter holder/candidate or equivalent.
- At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong working knowledge of financial markets, economics, investment analysis, portfolio theory, and related concepts.
- Technical proficiency with Bloomberg or FactSet.
- Regional experience or familiarity with European markets.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams in a global, matrixed organization.
- A good problem solver and trouble-shooter, with the ability to identify and analyze issues with the creativity and energy to solve them.
