  • As a Health Journalism Adviser
    • At least 3 years’ experience of health journalism in the UK
    • A background or proven interest in health, medicine, or science
    • A portfolio of health articles
    • A strong network of diverse health‑related contacts

    What will you be doing

    Our guiding principle is that prevention is better than cure. We have a track record of providing fresh thinking on health issues across a range of topics and acting as a catalyst to research with university partners.

    Health Journalism Adviser responsibilities

    • Identify which research areas are likely to attract media interest and recommend aspects to highlight.
    • Identify which media outlets and health journalists are most likely to be interested.
    • Advise on media‑friendly communication of our research findings.
    • Suggest potential research topics that are likely to resonate with the media.

    Trustee responsibilities

    • Ensure the organisation remains within its charitable remit (advancement of health and prevention of sickness).
    • Review and approve our Annual Report and Accounts.
    • Support and provide advice on our work.
    • Attend virtual board meetings (via Zoom).

    You will work alongside eight current Trustees, graduate researchers, and research partners from six universities. We operate as a virtual, voluntary organisation; there is minimal bureaucracy and no concern about staffing, premises or fundraising. All meetings are usually via Zoom to enable wide participation.
