Highway Maintenance Worker I - Small Equipment Operator (61035177)

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs manual labor assisting with the installation and repair of drainage features such as catch basins, pipe, signs, etc.
• Serves as flagger to safely direct traffic through work zones.
• Assists with placement of traffic control devices for work zones.
• Operates dump trucks, hauling materials to and from job sites.
• Operates small equipment, power and hand tools performing various maintenance tasks.
• Removes litter, debris, and dead animals from roadways.
• Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations which may include extended hours and/or working 12-hour shifts.

Minimum And Additional Requirements:

• There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification.
• Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
• The physical demands for the essential functions involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards.
• May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
