This job announcement will be used to fill 5 vacancies with Metro Maintenance at the following location: Plymouth Nights.
Job Duties:
Function – Bridge Maintenance:- Performs and maintains necessary repairs and installations in steel fabrication and erection of bridges and structures so that structural integrity is maintained at the lowest safety risk and inconvenience to the public.
- Performs concrete work for the construction/repair of bridges and structures so that concrete will be correctly placed, consolidated, finished, and cured to a proper surface in accordance with specifications.
- Performs carpentry duties related to bridges, buildings, and structures to ensure proper construction, remodeling, and forming is completed in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with standards and relevant building codes.
- Assists with safety inspections on bridges and structures, clean and prepare bridges, buildings, and structures for painting to ensure structural integrity is maintained according to Federal and State requirements.
- Provide traffic control set up.
- Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
- Removes snow from roadways and shoulders.
- Opens and widens roadways of large accumulations of snow.
- Removes snow from rights of way or yards.
- Applies anti-icing and de-icing chemicals on stretches of highway under slippery conditions.
- Removes ice and material from culverts.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:- Two years of experience performing carpentry OR concrete OR iron work OR a combination of one or more of these activities.
- Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.
- Valid Class D Driver's License AND a Class A CDL Permit with no airbrake restriction AND a tanker endorsement.
- A two-year technical trades training or degree (e.g., carpentry, concrete/masonry, etc.) or equivalent may be substituted for one year of experience.
- Class A or B CDL with no airbrake restriction and a tanker endorsement.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work nights; may be required to work outside exposed to the weather elements (both hot and cold) on an intermittent basis. The employee will drive motorized vehicles in on and off-road conditions. Periodically, the employee will walk on even and uneven/sloping ground. The employee must frequently and continually rotate through body positions (standing, twisting, bending, sitting, kneeling, and squatting). The employee will occasionally operate machinery and equipment (using vision and hearing) under varying temperatures. The employee must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment to protect the head, eyes, hearing, respiration, visibility, and feet from injury.
Must be able to communicate through writing, speaking, and hearing, and able to communicate with the use of electronic communication equipment, i.e., telephone, 2-way radio, computer, etc.
Additional Requirements:All job offers are contingent upon the candidate passing a Criminal Background Check, SEMA Records Check, Drug Screening, Employment Verification, Reference Checks and Driver's License Screening at the required level for the position. The incumbents will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Individuals not currently in the random testing pool must pass a preplacement drug test for evidence of use of marijuana, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine (PCP), amphetamines and semi-synthetic opioids (i.e., hydrocodone, oxycodone, hydromorphone, oxymorphone).
Incumbents will be required to be immediately accessible to a phone and be able to report to work within one (1) hour of being called in the event of an emergency and/or snow and ice event.
