Waddington Brown is delighted to be working in partnership with a world class employer in the Cambridge area on the key appointment of an HR Manager. Reporting to the Head of HR and being a guide and mentor to a small HR team, your role will be to support the organisation with a professional and efficient HR service.

Key responsibilities of the HR Manager role include:

  • Taking a lead on all generalist HR activity within the organisation, escalating issues to the Head of HR where necessary.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders, building and developing effective relationships with regular meetings to discuss the people agenda and workforce planning.
  • Providing managers with timely and pragmatic advice and guidance in relation to complex employee relations issues.
  • Monitoring sickness absence and working alongside managers to facilitate return to work discussions, risk assessments etc.
  • Taking the lead on HR projects, working alongside key stakeholders.
  • Creating, developing and reviewing policies in line with legislative changes.
  • Coaching managers through effective methods of candidate attraction and recruitment.
  • Working alongside the Head of HR on developing the organisation's EDI strategy.

As HR Manager it is expected you will have the following skills & experience:

  • Ideally CIPD L5 as a minimum or equivalent level of experience.
  • Excellent generalist experience and confidence to take ownership and initiate ideas.
  • Experience of working in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Experience of using HR systems, preferably Cascade.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional manner, confidential and discreet.

In return, the HR Manager salary and benefits package is:

  • Salary up to £48k depending on experience.
  • Hybrid working – 2 or 3 days in the office depending on commitments.
