We’re currently in search of a passionate, ambitious Head Chef for a brand-new restaurant concept shaped by creativity and collaboration. Sister Moon is a vibrant Southeast Asian restaurant by Sam Grainger, opening 14 floors up within Treehouse Manchester. A place where bold flavours meet bright energy, where the spirit of exploration is as important as the food on the plate, and where every detail is designed to spark curiosity, connection, and joy. This Head Chef role will work closely with Sam Grainger to create and deliver vibrant Southeast Asian plates in a unique setting. Leading by example, your enthusiasm for beautiful ingredients and excellent service will inspire and motivate your team to elevate their standards and achieve great things. We’re looking for a Head Chef who is a people magnet, a genius at anticipating obstacles and finding quick solutions. Most important, someone who knows when to get in the trenches with their team to achieve the ultimate outcome, and when to step back and allow emerging talent to shine.
About you
- 5 years’ experience working in a professional kitchen, with specific experience in delivering high quality food.
- At least 1 year experience as a Head Chef.
- A keen interest in sustainable kitchen practices.
- Preferred experience and keen interest in Asian concept food.
- The ability to develop menus in line with brand guidelines, with an eye on creating a strong reputation both locally and nationally.
- A commitment to quality, and the ability to train a team to deliver exactly the same quality in your absence.
- A passion for learning and progression, for yourself and your team.
- Great knife skills and professional kitchen demeanour – a leader by example.
- An eye for detail.
- The ability to remain clear, calm and organised in a busy environment.
- An excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
- Confident in kitchen administration, to include management of food and labour costs, Health and Safety and rotas.
- A proven track record in guest and team member engagement and financial performance.
