About the Startup Coalition
Startup Coalition is an independent advocacy group that serves as the policy voice for technology‑led start ups and scaleups in the UK. The Startup Coalition was founded by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs and fights for a policy environment that enables early‑stage British tech companies to grow, scale and compete globally. We have over 4,000 startups in our network and have been instrumental in building proactive coalitions of businesses and investors on issues that are integral to the health of the UK’s startup ecosystem. Our work has seen many successes, from the design and establishment of the Future Fund to the creation of new technology‑focused visas, the raising of the SEIS investor and investee caps, and the expansion of R&D tax credits.
The Role
- Design, plan and execute eye‑catching content that supports our policy work.
- Work with our team to develop and implement the organisation's communications plan.
- Manage content design and deployment on our Substack, social channels, and wherever else our content will help move the needle on policy and communicate our work to both founders and policymakers.
- Shape messaging that drives successful campaigns.
- Ensure startup voices are heard, making sure that Startup Coalition is featured in relevant press, and that our founders are amplified.
- Build an industry‑leading campaign machine, with significant room to grow our comms output in exciting ways.
- Contribute to all aspects of our small operation to deliver great policy work that helps achieve a policy environment that enables tech startups and scaleups to grow and scale effectively.
Experience & Skills
- Positive, optimistic and enthusiastic, with a love for politics and technology.
- Creative, comfortable capturing and editing content, and willing to try new tools to develop content across various channels.
- Exceptional writer, happy to own the visual identity and voice of our brand.
- Able to work rapidly, with ambiguity, and take the initiative.
- Approachable and willing to spend time talking to founders, policymakers, and others in the ecosystem.
