Job description, work day and responsibilities
Overview:
We are currently seeking a skilled CNC Setter Operator to join our team on the night shift. The ideal candidate will have expertise in operating CNC machinery and producing high-quality components. This is a full-time position based in Wednesbury.
The CNC Setter/Operator will be responsible for setting and operating Fanuc controlled lathes. We manufacture a variety of 1 off, small, medium and large batch work to tight tolerances and to strict quality standards.
Hours of work:
46 hours per week working Monday – Thursday 6pm – 6am.
Overtime available on the weekends & bank holidays with premium rates.

Salary:
- Salary is negotiable depending upon experience
- £3 night shift allowance per hour will be additional
Responsibilities:
- Programming, Setting and operating CNC machinery.
- Able to interpret and work from engineering drawings.
- Carrying out first off inspections using handheld gauges, micrometers and verniers and other measuring equipment to ensure component meets required specifications.
- Uploading and editing to the machines using Fanuc controls
- Set, adjust and change the tools.
- Fit jaws to the chuck
- Working with a variety of exotic materials (materials mainly consist of Inconel, Super Duplex, 6 60)
- Working to tight tolerances
- Producing high volume batch work
- General CNC machine set up and trouble shooting
- Meet/exceed Quality standards
- Adhere to company health, safety and environmental standards
- Participate in continuous improvement activities
Qualifications:
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with a C grade pass in Maths and English.
- NVQ or Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering advantageous but not essential
Experience:
- Detailed understanding of engineering drawing, tooling selection, work holding & cutting strategy
- Must possess a good understanding of general machining practices.
- A minimum of 2 years CNC Programming, Setting, Operating experience is essential.
- Experience of working on small batch work an advantage
- You will have been responsible for the quality of your own work involving complex components
- Experience with Fanuc controls is essential
- Experience machining a range of hard metals to close tolerances.
- Experience of using CAD CAM and Solidworks
