An established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Maintenance / Engineering Manager to lead site engineering operations. This is a hands-on leadership role managing a small team of engineers (3 direct reports), ensuring optimal performance of machinery, facilities, and maintenance systems.

You’ll play a key role in driving reliability, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency across the site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all maintenance, repair, and installation activities across the site
  • Develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance programme
  • Oversee risk assessments (including PUWER) and implement improvement plans
  • Manage and develop a team of 3 engineers, including apprentices
  • Coordinate and control subcontractors and service providers
  • Drive engineering standards, procedures, and best practices
  • Monitor KPIs and produce maintenance performance reports
  • Manage maintenance budgets, inventory, and cost control
  • Support breakdowns when required with a hands-on approach
  • Work closely with senior leadership to support business objectives
What We’re Looking ForExperience:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance or engineering leadership role
  • Background within a manufacturing or industrial environment
Qualifications:
  • Engineering qualification (Level 3 or above – Mechanical or Electrical)
  • HNC/HND desirable
  • NEBOSH (desirable)
Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • PLC awareness/experience
  • Understanding of maintenance systems, KPIs, and reporting
  • Familiarity with IATF16949, ISO45001, and ISO14001 (desirable)
