The predicted salary is between 16.2 - 19.8 £ per hour.
The position is for a Quality Control Inspector, for structural steel and fabricated bracketry.
You will be responsible for dimensional checks and inspecting the weld quality of fabricated components in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications, prior to and after welding.
This role is hands-on and shop-based and requires the ability and willingness to assist with various jobs in a fabrication workshop, including assembly, rework and other duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Inspect assemblies, beams, columns, brackets and miscellaneous steel components during fabrication and after welding.
- Verify dimensions to drawings and weld quality to standards
- Identify non-conformances or discrepancies and work with production staff to resolve issues efficiently
- Assist with fabrication rework, and general shop tasks as required
- Assist new or junior fabricators in understanding drawings.
- Use measuring tools such as protractors, combination squares, tapes, squares, and other measuring equipment.
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship and supports overall shop quality objectives
- Liaise with external welding inspectors and tool calibration
Requirements
- Experience in steel fabrication or related forms of engineering (Required)
- Quality control inspection experience in a steel fabrication shop (asset)
- Welding or inspection certification (asset, not required)
- Strong engineering drawing reading skills
- Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Willingness to perform hands-on fabrication related tasks as required
- Willingness to work overtime when job requires.
- Experience of ISO EN1090 or ISO9001 (advantage)
