Our client, a leading manufacturing business, is currently searching for a senior Electrical Project Engineer to work based between their Flint & Wigan sites. The Software, Electrical and Controls Project Engineer's purpose is to develop, plan and deliver engineering projects, machinery installations, process modifications, improvements, and assisting in new product developments with a primary focus on electrical and software components.

There is a need to build and develop long-standing working relationships with both internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure that the objectives of the department and business are met as a whole.

Role responsibilities:

  • The design, sourcing, development, installation and commissioning of electrical, control and process equipment.
  • Ensure provision of accurate machine and process documentation whilst also ensuring that manuals and drawings are provided and readily available for reference.
  • The modification/development of existing processes, with particular regard to the electrical and control aspects, to provide increased efficiencies, additional capacity, obsolescence replacement and disaster recovery processes.
  • To ensure SOP and other relevant documentation is prepared and trained out to relevant parties prior to full production start-up.
  • To provide technical support to engineering colleagues and the wider plant where necessary.
  • To produce concise and accurate monthly reports which reflect project progress, current activity, changing priorities, risks and their control measures and identifying any barriers to success.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Degree, HND, HNC in Electrical Engineering or related subject and/or relevant experience within an engineering, project or maintenance-based environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the FMCG or manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of advanced control system architecture e.g. Safety control systems, SCADA, Servo systems, PLCs (list not intended to be exhaustive).
  • An ambassador for Manufacturing Excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations in a positive and flexible manner.
