Starrycare is seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Lead Mental Health Nurse to provide expert clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality mental health care in a prison setting. The post holder will lead on complex assessments, care planning, risk management, and service development while ensuring safe, evidence-based, and recovery-focused care in line with professional and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the assessment, planning, and delivery of mental health care
- Provide clinical and managerial supervision to nursing staff
- Manage complex cases and support risk assessment processes (including ACCT/CPA)
- Promote recovery-focused, person-centred care
- Ensure compliance with NMC standards and clinical governance requirements
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement
- Work collaboratively with prison staff, psychiatrists, and external agencies
Requirements
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (NMC Registered)
- Degree in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
- Significant post-registration experience (Band 6 or equivalent)
- Experience providing clinical supervision and leadership
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance and risk management
- Non-Medical Prescribing qualification (desirable or willingness to undertake)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a secure environment
