About the role
Our RPA team plays a big role in helping NFU Mutual work more efficiently – removing repetitive tasks and freeing up our people to focus on the things they do best. From supporting customer-facing teams to streamlining internal operations, the automations we build make a genuine difference every day. As a permanent member of the team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape, build, and grow with us. We use the UiPath platform and a growing set of tools including comms mining, machine learning, and document understanding to identify and deliver smart, sustainable automation solutions. Automation opportunities can come from anywhere in the business – sometimes it’s a reactive need, sometimes it’s a deep-dive into how a process can work better. Business Partners do the early scoping, and from there you’ll work closely with them and the business area to bring it to life – from development and testing through to launch and optimisation. You’ll also play a part in shaping how we work, embedding best practices across development, documentation, testing and deployment. There’s plenty of variety and scope to explore new ideas and contribute to a growing, forward-thinking function. It’s a brilliant time to join a team that’s genuinely collaborative, enthusiastic about what they do, and focused on delivering real business value. With development pathways in place – including the opportunity to progress into a Senior Developer role – this is a great opportunity to grow your skills while making a lasting impact. While this role can be based from any of our UK offices listed above, you’ll need to be happy to travel to our Head Office in Stratford-upon-Avon around once a quarter for team get-togethers. These sessions are a great chance to connect in person, share ideas, and stay closely aligned as a team.
About you
You’ll be a curious and collaborative developer who enjoys solving problems, working with others, and seeing the real impact of your work across a business. Comfortable managing your own workload and juggling multiple projects, you’ll be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment – able to adapt quickly, engage others, and focus on building effective, sustainable solutions. You’ll also bring:
- Strong hands-on experience with UiPath – confident using the platform to design, build, and deliver automations in a professional setting. We’ll assess your proficiency as part of the interview, so we’re looking for candidates with a solid track record in delivering UiPath solutions in a business context.
- Knowledge of Agile delivery methods – we work in sprints and use Agile frameworks to manage work and drive collaboration. You’ll need to be comfortable with iterative development, daily stand-ups, and fast feedback loops to deliver value quickly and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking – from identifying the root cause of issues to refining automations for better performance, you’ll take a thoughtful, inquisitive approach to your work. Being able to ask the right questions – and not settle for the first answer – is key.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and influencing skills – you’ll be working closely with colleagues across the business, helping them understand the ‘why’ behind automation choices. It’s important you can manage expectations, communicate technical ideas in simple terms, and guide people through the process.
- Excellent prioritisation and time management – this role involves managing your own projects and deadlines, so being able to plan your time, stay organised, and adapt when things change is essential.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps and code repositories (not essential) – experience using Azure DevOps to manage project tasks, pipelines, or code tracking is ideal. An understanding of version control and good coding practices will help you work efficiently, avoid duplication, and ensure consistency across the team.
At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees. We recognise that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. So, we encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process. We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a Race at Work and Women in Finance Charter signatory and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.
