We have an exciting new opportunity for someone keen to develop their underwriting career to join our Canada Professions team, who are recognised as a market leader and highly specialised and expert team of PI underwriters. Our team exclusively focuses on Professional Liability driven business in Canada and has experienced rapid growth in recent years. As we continue to expand, we’re looking for a motivated individual to become part of our high-performing and successful team.
We are a market leader in providing solutions to both small and large enterprises in Canada and we have 5 products, Architects and Engineers, Miscellaneous Professionals, Recruitment, Oil and Gas and Contractors E&O. The team work on package policy solutions, which means we offer a number of coverages under one policy, including Casualty and our market leading Cyber coverage, giving you the ability to gain experience and exposure you are unlikely to find elsewhere.

About the role
As a Assistant Underwriter, you’ll learn to develop and underwrite profitable business. You’ll support the team across a variety of areas, including supporting new business development, underwriting renewal accounts, and building broker relationships.
- Respond to enquiries and renewal submissions from brokers in a timely and professional manner, delivering a first-class service to produce quotations within agreed SLAs and authority parameters.
- Explain the features, advantages and benefits of Professions insurance products and coverage enhancements, support product launches and raise awareness of new and existing products.
- Support and contribute to team projects (e.g. enhancements to product offering, launch of new products, systems, policies, and processes etc.).
- Support the team in marketing Professions capabilities through existing contacts and new relationships, and over time, attending ad-hoc business trips in Canada as required
About you
We are looking for driven, self-starters with a strong work ethic who can contribute to a fast-paced working environment and work within a high performance team. You will need to be sales and service focussed, confident and personable on the phone and in front of our customers and be able to demonstrate a hunger and aptitude to support growth within the team.
You will be expected to work at a high pace and intensity that underpins the successful framework of the CFC business and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support our ambitious growth plans.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience within the insurance industry preferably with exposure to underwriting or broking in financial lines.
