Roles and Responsibilities

Risk Assessment and Management:

  1. Identify and evaluate sustainability risks, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors;
  2. Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate identified risks;
  3. Monitor and report on sustainability risk exposure and performance.

Policy Development:

  1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability into corporate policies and procedures;
  2. Ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Management:

  1. Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives;
  2. Communicate sustainability risks and opportunities to senior management and the board.

Compliance and Reporting:

  1. Ensure compliance with relevant sustainability regulations and standards;
  2. Prepare and oversee sustainability risk reports and disclosures.

Training and Awareness:

  1. Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness of sustainability risks and best practices;
  2. Foster a culture of sustainability within the organisation.

Experience

  1. Proven experience in sustainability, risk management, or a related field;
  2. Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies;
  3. Proven experience in working within ESG at senior level within financial services or insurance;
  4. Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, including environmental regulations, sustainable business practices, and corporate social responsibility;
  5. Demonstrated accountability in developing and implementing sustainability strategies that drive business performance while achieving environmental and social objectives.

Skills

  1. Critical thinking skills to solve problems and enact creative thinking to provide solutions;
  2. Ability to identify areas of inefficiency or areas of opportunity for maximizing sustainability throughout the organisation;
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  4. Ability to work collaboratively across departments;
  5. Proficiency in sustainability reporting tools and software.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Risk Management, or a related field;
  2. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g. CSR-P, GARP) is desirable.
