Role Purpose

The purpose of the Receptionist role is to deliver an exceptional front‑of‑house and customer service experience, ensuring all visitors and colleagues feel welcomed, supported, and confident in their interactions with Starr. The role exists to support the smooth day‑to‑day running of the office, maintain a professional first impression, and contribute positively to employee and guest experience as part of the wider Office Support strategy.

Scope of Responsibility

The Receptionist is responsible for creating and maintaining a professional, friendly, and efficient reception environment. The role focuses on providing a seamless visitor journey, managing front‑of‑house processes to a high standard, and acting as a knowledgeable and approachable point of contact within the office. Success in the role is demonstrated through consistently positive feedback from visitors and colleagues, a well‑organised and welcoming reception area, and effective communication across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a professional, warm, and welcoming front‑of‑house experience for all visitors and colleagues.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and well‑presented reception area that reflects a high‑quality corporate environment.
  • Coordinate meeting room bookings, guest registration, and building access to ensure visits and meetings run smoothly.
  • Act as the first point of contact for incoming calls and front‑of‑house enquiries, handling queries efficiently and professionally.
  • Support office wellbeing, safety, and compliance by coordinating desk assessments and related processes.
  • Work closely with Facilities and Office Support teams to support the smooth day‑to‑day running of the office.
  • Be flexible to occasionally provide cover at the company’s other office location when required.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a customer‑facing or front‑of‑house role, with a clear commitment to delivering high‑quality service in a professional environment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently, clearly, and courteously with a wide range of people, both in person and over the phone.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple demands, remain calm under pressure, and prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
  • A proactive and responsible approach, demonstrating reliability, attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership for the reception area and visitor experience.
  • Confidence using core IT systems such as Outlook, calendars, and basic office technology, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • A professional, positive, and approachable manner, with a natural ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
