Programme Overview
Starr has a number of internship opportunities available for Summer 2026. One of these is with our Actuarial team. The successful candidate will participate in Starr’s 9‑week internship programme, with the objective of gaining experience and exposure to the London insurance market. This will be achieved through a blended approach of on‑the‑job learning, self‑study and tailored training courses.
The successful candidate will support the Actuarial team across various projects and ad‑hoc pieces of work. They will help to support the quarterly receiving processes, develop and test pricing models, analyse and present data to support business decision‑making, and much more.
What you will need for the programme?
At Starr we look for individuals from all backgrounds who can bring fresh thinking and different perspectives. To qualify for our internship programme we specify that candidates demonstrate the following:
- Able to travel to the City of London (although the internship will likely be a mixture of remote and office work), with the first day on Monday 22 June;
- Right to Work in the UK (Company sponsorship will not be offered);
- Available for the entire 9 weeks (Monday 22 June 2026 – Friday 21 August 2026);
- Available for full‑time work from September 2027 or sooner.
Education and Experience:
- Interested in becoming an actuary or pursuing a career in insurance;
- Experience with MS Excel to a competent level.
Skills and Aptitude:
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills;
- Problem‑solving skills;
- Strong numeracy skills;
- Data processing skills;
- Time‑management skills;
- A pro‑active ‘can‑do’ approach;
- A self‑starter who takes accountability for their work;
- IT skills – MS Office (competent level Excel and Word).
