Engine is the software‑as‑a‑service (SaaS) business behind Starling Bank. After separating two years ago, it now powers banks and financial institutions worldwide, delivering innovative digital features and efficient back‑office processes that were key to Starling’s success.

About the Role
As Mobile Platform Owner you’ll collaborate with cross‑functional technology teams and product engineering mobile squads to ensure our mobile SDKs meet client needs and align with the company’s strategy and risk appetite. You’ll champion our clients across the mobile department and the broader organisation, driving adoption, advocacy and product consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the mobile platform strategy: work with mobile engineering teams and product owners to deliver high‑impact outcomes that ensure strong product consistency across all SDK features.
- Gather feedback and decompose problems: listen to teams, collect requirements and break down complex problems into actionable projects.
- Drive adoption and advocacy: promote the platform’s capabilities, educate teams and stakeholders, and ensure widespread adoption via documentation, training and internal marketing.
- Measure success: define key success metrics (e.g., SDK integration lead time).
- Ensure security and compliance: partner with security and compliance teams to embed best practices and meet regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills, able to simplify and clarify complex architectural problems for stakeholders ranging from junior engineers to executive leadership.
- Data‑driven mindset with experience making evidence‑based product decisions.
- Proven ability to act as the user voice and influence teams and stakeholders without direct authority, especially in engineering‑led environments.
- Comfortable working directly with engineers, internally and externally; you can "speak their language" and understand how they build or integrate a mobile SDK.
Nice to have
- Hands‑on engineering experience or a technical background, particularly in mobile development.
- Experience in the FinTech or banking industry.
- Experience taking a software product from an internal tool to an external, revenue‑generating offering.
