At Engine by Starling, we are on a mission to find and work with leading banks all around the world who have the ambition to build rapid growth businesses on our technology. Engine is Starling's software-as-a-service (SaaS) business, the technology that was built to power Starling Bank, and two years ago we split out as a separate business. Starling has seen exceptional growth and success, and a large part of that is down to the fact that we have built our own modern technology from the ground up. This SaaS technology platform is now available to banks and financial institutions all around the world, enabling them to benefit from the innovative digital features and efficient back-office processes that have helped achieve Starling's success.

As a Mobile Platform Owner at Engine, you will collaborate closely with teams across Technology and work with the product engineering mobile teams as well as our client experience mobile team to ensure that our mobile SDKs meet the needs of clients and align with the company's broader strategy and risk appetite. You will act as the voice of our clients across the mobile department but also across the organisation. You will also be well-connected with the broader Product practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute the mobile platform strategy: Work with mobile engineering teams and domain product owners to deliver high-impact outcomes that ensure strong product consistency across all SDK features.
  • Gather feedback and break down problems: Actively listen to teams for pain points and feedback, gather requirements, and break down complex problems into actionable projects across teams.
  • Drive adoption and advocacy: Promote the platform's capabilities, educate teams and stakeholders and ensure widespread adoption via documentation, training and internal marketing.
  • Measure success: Define key success metrics (e.g., SDK integration lead time).
  • Ensure security and compliance: Partner with security and compliance teams to embed best practices and ensure regulatory requirements are met.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify and provide clarity on complex architectural problems to a wide range of stakeholders, from junior engineers to executive leadership.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in making evidence-based product decisions.
  • A proven ability to act as a voice for the user and influence teams and stakeholders without direct authority, particularly in engineering-led environments.
  • You should be comfortable working directly with engineers, both internally and externally.

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on engineering experience or a technical background, particularly in mobile development.
  • Experience in the FinTech or banking industry.
  • Experience in taking software from an internal tool to an external, revenue-generating product.

Benefits:

  • 33 days holiday (including public holidays).
  • An extra day's holiday for your birthday.
  • Annual leave is increased with length of service, and you can choose to buy or sell up to five extra days off.
  • 16 hours paid volunteering time a year.
  • Salary sacrifice, company enhanced pension scheme.
  • Life insurance at 4x your salary & group income protection.
  • Private Medical Insurance with VitalityHealth including mental health support and cancer care.
  • Generous family-friendly policies.
  • Incentives refer a friend scheme.
  • Perkbox membership giving access to retail discounts, a wellness platform for physical and mental health, and weekly free and boosted perks.
  • Access to initiatives like Cycle to Work, Salary Sacrificed Gym partnerships and Electric Vehicle (EV) leasing.
