Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Manager to lead our Ofsted-regulated children's residential home in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering outstanding care, safeguarding vulnerable young people, and effectively managing residential teams. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and striving to achieve ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted ratings.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Provide effective leadership to the residential team, fostering a positive and supportive environment aligned with Starlight Support Services Ltd's values.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the home operates in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards, maintaining compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Safeguarding: Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people in the home, implementing robust child protection policies.
- Care Planning: Maintain up-to-date care plans, risk assessments, and other essential documentation tailored to each child's needs.
- Staff Management: Oversee recruitment, supervision, appraisal, and development of staff, ensuring a high-performing and motivated team.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, and other professionals to support the best outcomes for young people.
- Environment Management: Ensure the home provides a nurturing and homely environment conducive to the emotional and psychological development of the residents.
- Inspection Preparation: Prepare for and manage inspections from Ofsted and other external bodies, aiming for high-quality ratings.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the home’s budget and resources effectively, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
- Outcome Focus: Support the delivery of outcome-focused work with children, promoting independence, resilience, and positive behaviours.
Requirements
- Qualifications: NVQ/QCF Level 5 in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a children’s residential care setting within the last 5 years, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant children’s legislation.
- Skills: Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex situations effectively.
- Proven Success: Experience leading an Ofsted-regulated children’s home to a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ rating.
- Licensing: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
