The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Machine Tool Fitter to join a growing engineering team, building robotic welding machines and automation equipment from detailed engineering drawings. This is a days-based role with plenty of overtime paid at enhanced rates, ideal for fitters looking to maximise earnings while maintaining a strong work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and build robotic welding machines and machine tool systems from engineering drawings
- Mechanical fitting, alignment, and installation of components and assemblies
- Interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and build instructions
- Assemble jigs, fixtures, frames, guarding, and tooling
- Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
- Work to tight tolerances and high quality standards
- Support build, test, and fault-finding activities
- Adhere to health & safety procedures at all times
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Machine Tool Fitter / Mechanical Fitter / Assembly Fitter
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience building machinery, automation, or robotic systems (highly desirable)
- Confident using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, DTI)
- Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
