The main role of a Multi Utility Stores/Delivery Driver is to assist the on-site teams to build and maintain the gas, water and electric network infrastructure to provide a reliable supply of gas, water and electric to domestic, commercial and industrial users via prompt delivery of plant and materials. The role requires work in all weather conditions at many sites across each of the company’s network. The individual will need to develop a disciplined approach to work safely to deliver a wide range of utility related equipment and to decide on the approach to be taken to complete work, within given instructions & requests by the on-site teams, planning and Project Management team. In addition, the stores are to be managed to include accepting deliveries and agreed stock levels whilst keeping the area clean and tidy.

Requirements

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Undertake and document risk assessments.
  • Comply with workplace health, safety & environmental practices, maintaining a safe and secure working environment.
  • Follow delivery instructions and company procedures.
  • Comply with the New Roads and Street Works Act requirements for signing, lighting and guarding.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and employer policy.
  • Liaise with emergency services and other statutory authorities as necessary.
  • Articulate, professional and clear verbal communication skills.
  • Present information clearly and in an engaging way.
  • Good interpersonal and rapport-building abilities.
  • Precise and appropriate written communication skills.
  • Good telephone manner.
  • Good listener; can understand the needs of customers and colleagues.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Delivery of Cable and Winching equipment to site.
  • Assist in Cable pulling activities where required.
  • Delivery of all Multi Utility Materials to allow On-site Team to carry out Duties.
  • Company policies, procedures and engineering instructions as defined by the employer.
  • Determine the approach, within the instruction, to be adopted by the team to achieve objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Keep up to date with advances in business area, new methods and ways of working.
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Confident and accurate use of departmental computer systems/databases.
  • Full Drivers licence (Maximum 6 Points).
  • SHEA Gas, Water, Power.
  • Water Hygiene.
  • Use Of Winch (Cable Pulling).

Specific Requirements:

  • Multi Utility Stores / Delivery Driver (Gas, Water & Electric).
  • Delivery of all plant and materials to allow efficient on-site installations.
  • Install LV & HV Electric Mains via Hand Lay or Winch.
  • Maintain stores and agreed stock levels.
