We are looking for a versatile and commercially minded Technical Product Lead to join Stark Zero, our behind-the-meter solar and battery storage (BESS) business. Sitting at the intersection of engineering, sales and pricing, you will be the bridge between technical design and commercial viability. Your primary focus will be in developing products and proposals that deliver both value for customers and growth for Stark Zero. You will work closely with the business development and asset finance teams to ensure that the solar and BESS solutions we present to customers are credible, cost-effective, and highly competitive. You will have a hands‑on role in shaping our supply chain, defining our product offerings and directly driving the growth of the business through its early stages.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Solution Design: Own the technical design and optimisation of our industrial & commercial Solar PV and BESS solutions. Evaluate and select the best technologies and system configurations to maximise yield and commercial return. Stay ahead of market trends to ensure our product offering remains cutting‑edge and commercially competitive.
  • Supply Chain Management: Identify, vet, and establish relationships with our ideal equipment manufacturers, suppliers and sub‑contractors. Working with our commercial & legal teams, negotiate technical specifications, warranties and service level agreements alongside the commercial team. Build a resilient, cost‑effective supply chain framework to support business scale‑up.
  • Proposal Preparation (Tender Design & Pricing): Work closely with the business development to develop accurate, competitive and profitable proposals. Support the asset finance team in conducting system sizing, yield modelling and technical feasibility studies for client proposals. Ensure all technical assumptions in pricing models are robust and achievable.
  • Technical Sales Support: Act as the primary technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in client meetings and pitches. Translate complex technical concepts into clear commercial benefits for clients and stakeholders. Partner closely with the business development team to overcome technical objections and help close deals.
  • Handover to Delivery: Ensure a seamless transition of contracted projects from the pre‑sales/commercial phase to the project delivery team. Provide ongoing support on technical matters to the solar and BESS delivery team, as required.
  • Miscellaneous: Participate in regular training/learning activities to maintain and develop skills and knowledge. Adhere to all Stark policies, procedures and working practices. Ensure the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by what you do; use work equipment provided safely and cooperate with managers to provide safe systems of work. Any other reasonable duties as required.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Industry Experience: Proven track record (typically 3+ years) in a technical, sales engineering, or pre‑construction role within the commercial Solar PV and/or BESS sectors.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of solar and battery system architecture, grid connections, and system performance limitations.
  • Commercial Acumen: A solid grasp of project economics—you understand how technical design choices impact ROI, IRR, and payback periods.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in industry‑standard design and yield modelling software (e.g., PVSyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Supply Chain Knowledge: Existing knowledge of solar and BESS OEMs and a good understanding of equipment warranties and degradation profiles.
