We’re looking for an Enterprise Data Architect to join us at our Huddersfield office on a permanent basis.

You will act as the enterprise data architect and contribute to the enterprise architecture vision and strategy, to accelerate and/or enable business growth. Design and maintain reliable, scalable, and accessible data architectures that meet evolving business objectives. Ensure data services, products, and solutions are aligned to both architecture and engineering standards, supporting operational, strategic, and tactical needs. Ensures that data models, data flows, and technical designs meet both operational and analytical needs while aligning with global architecture standards and best practices.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in enterprise data architectures, data modelling methods and technologies, and solution design within complex organisations.
  • Ability to optimise data architectures for performance, scalability, reusability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Be a systems thinker, delivering transformative change, with a growth mindset and value creation as your core - always, embracing experimentation.
  • Proven ability to align technical solutions with business strategy, enterprise architecture, and engineering standards - ensuring strong data governance foundations are built/adhered to.
  • Material expertise in data modelling techniques (conceptual, logical, and physical) and relevant toolsets (e.g., ER/Studio, Erwin, dbt, SQL modelling frameworks).
  • Complementary experience in enterprise application, integration, and technology architectures with material experience in business architecture.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise data platforms, public cloud services (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Databricks, Microsoft Azure, ServiceNow), and application, data, process, service, and system integration toolsets.
  • Experience supporting Master Data Management, Data Governance, and Analytics initiatives.
  • Experience of understanding the value of non-functional requirements and how they can be incorporated into a compelling architecture.
  • Awareness of, and preferably practitioner of, CIS, DAMA, INCOSE, ITIL, and/or TOGAF.
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend emerging technologies and alternative approaches.
  • Strong expertise and experience in multi-modal delivery methods.

  • Alignment of data services, products and solution designs with the enterprise architecture mission, vision, and strategy.
  • Engaging with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective architectures.
  • Development and maintenance of the enterprise data architecture, ensuring it is resilient, scalable, and meets current and future business requirements.
  • Establish and maintain architecture standards, best practices, and documentation.
  • Creating artefacts appropriate for different technical and business audiences.
  • Providing thought leadership on how, where, and when, to consolidate services and systems, by exploiting existing capabilities.
  • Contributes to a modern, fit-for-purpose data estate that adopts democratization, self-service, and enables advanced analytics.
  • Working closely with application, connectivity, integration, platform, and security engineering teams to simplify and automate the landscape, ensuring reliability, scalability, and accessibility.
  • Working closely with data engineering to simplify and streamline data flows and pipelines, across the organisation, within Group and extending into our Supply Chain, ensuring reliability, timeliness, quality, and accessibility.
  • Supporting data engineering in designing and implementing data models that underpin master data management (MDM), analytics, and reporting.
  • Ensure data models and architecture support data governance and data quality.
  • Establish and maintain data modelling standards, best practices, and documentation - create high-quality conceptual, logical, and physical data models, and produce key models as required.
  • Leading iterative reviews of data architectures and models, continuously refining processes based on feedback from users, performance metrics, and business dynamics.
  • Identifying and exploiting common patterns, synergies and similarities to promote re-usability and the future proofing of data services, products, and solutions.
  • Assessment of emerging data products, platforms, and services; providing objective evaluations and recommendations, including pros and cons of different approaches.
  • Monitoring emerging trends and technologies in data architecture and modelling, advising on their potential adoption and business value.
