We are currently looking for a Marketing & Insight Analyst to join us in this newly created role to help marketing and insights teams make better commercial decisions through clear analysis, trusted reporting, and practical insight. The role will support high-impact questions across sales, margin, customer behaviour, product performance, campaign effectiveness, customer experience, and growth opportunities.

Role Purpose:
  • To turn business questions into actionable analysis, dashboards and recommendations.
  • The role will work closely with our marketing and insights teams, using Excel, SQL and Power BI to improve visibility of performance and support key projects.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Experience in data analysis, BI, commercial analytics, marketing analytics or customer insight.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, Power Query and structured models.
  • Strong Power BI skills, including dashboard design, data modelling, DAX and user-friendly reporting.
  • Good SQL capability, including querying, joining, transforming, aggregating and validating data.
  • Ability to turn business needs into data requirements, analysis plans and actionable recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and data storytelling skills.
  • High attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy, consistency and documentation.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience supporting commercial, marketing, CRM, pricing, category, trading or Strategic Insights teams.
  • Exposure to campaign analysis, segmentation, loyalty, customer journey, customer experience or channel performance data.
  • Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric or similar platforms.
  • Experience in retail, distribution, trade, building materials, construction supply or multi-site environments.
Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements
  • Work with marketing, insights, e-commerce, and senior stakeholders to define priorities and requirements.
  • Translate business questions into clear analytical briefs, data needs and reporting outputs.
  • Challenge and clarify requests so analysis is focused on decisions, actions and value.
Marketing, Customer & Strategic Insight
  • Provide segmented customer data for targeted email, SMS and direct mail campaigns.
  • Analyse campaign performance, ROI, channel effectiveness, audience selection and customer behaviour.
  • Support customer journey mapping, including new accounts, personalisation, rewards and loyalty opportunities.
  • Standardise marketing KPI definitions and produce regular performance reporting for stakeholders and Exec teams.
  • Manage data extracts for Strategic Insights, customer experience tracking and research projects.
  • Develop customer segmentation and review transactional behaviour to support marketing and service improvements.
  • Provide customer insight & support for the NPS survey.
  • Collaborate with external agencies by agreeing data requirements and identifying opportunities for data enrichment.
Reporting, Power BI & Self-Serve Insight
  • Design, build and maintain clear Power BI dashboards aligned to business reporting standards.
  • Create self-serve reporting using trusted data, simple visuals and consistent metric definitions.
  • Reduce manual reporting through automation, reusable datasets and clear documentation.
Data, SQL & Excel Delivery
  • Use SQL to extract, join, transform and validate data from business systems and data platforms.
  • Build Excel models and analysis packs using advanced formulas, pivots and Power Query where useful.
  • Work with data engineers to define reusable datasets, semantic models and reporting layers.
  • Support reconciliations, data quality checks and documentation of logic, assumptions and definitions.
