Jewson, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Yard Assistant to join the growing team in our Sandwick, Stornoway branch on the Isle of Lewis who is as passionate about great service as we are!
We provide a fulfilling and enjoyable work environment with ample opportunities for career growth, along with a competitive salary, staff discount, life assurance, and 34 days of holiday (inclusive of bank holidays).
Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, every 3rd Sat 8:30am-12pm
Location: Jewson, Parkend Industrial Estate, Parkend, Sandwick, Isle of Lewis HS2 0AN
Key Responsibilities
This role has a strong focus on stock handling, health and safety and customer service in our busy builders merchant yard. You\'ll be part of an active team out in our yard handling customer orders and loading/unloading stock.
- Welcome customers to the branch and take an active interest in their projects
- Get to know our product lines so you can offer advice and help to customers, making the most of all customer interactions
- Help to pick and prepare customer orders, load and unload customer and supplier vehicles (in-house forklift training provided)
- Check incoming deliveries and report missing or damaged products
- Maintain stock levels in all yard/warehouse areas, carrying out regular stock counts
- Keep the branch looking clean and tidy, to make a great first impression on our customers
- Make Health & Safety a priority and demonstrate how you can keep yourself and others safe at work
