Are you based in the Walton-on-Thames area? Do you have Yard/Warehouse supervisory experience? Do you have a passion for working with people and enjoy a fast paced and varied role?

Jewson a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Yard Supervisor to join the team in our Walton-on-Thames branch, who\’s as passionate about great service as we are.

We provide a fulfilling and enjoyable work environment with ample opportunities for career growth, along with a competitive salary, staff discount, life assurance, and 33 days of holiday (inclusive of bank holidays).

Hours: 7.30am–5.00pm Monday to Friday and every other Saturday morning 8am-12pm

Location: Jewson, 2 Terrace Rd, Walton-on-Thames KT12 2ST

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers to the branch and take an active interest in their projects, lead by example to ensure you and your team provide great customer service
  • Get to know our product lines so you can offer help and advice
  • Supervise all operational aspects of the yard, ensuring your yard team of 8 are briefed for the day, including delivery drivers, and that all health and safety measures are in place and your team are compliant
  • Help to process and prepare customer orders – load and unload customer and supplier vehicles using a forklift truck to minimise manual handling (training will be provided)
  • Work as a direct support the management team and act as a keyholder when required
  • Check incoming deliveries and report missing or damaged products
  • Maintain stock levels in both the warehouse and yard areas, carrying out regular stock counts
  • Keep the branch looking clean and tidy and make Health & Safety a priority
  • Work with colleagues to suggest opportunities for improvement

Required Skills And Experience

  • Previous industry experience preferred but not essential
  • A positive team player who is a strong and inclusive leader
  • A genuine enthusiasm for dealing with customers, and a ‘customer 1st’ attitude
  • Confident working both indoors and outdoors, with a strong focus on H&S
  • Comfortable in a role involving extensive manual handling of bulky items
