WHAT IS THE ROLE?

As an enthusiastic and safety-conscious Yard Operative, you'll be the first point of contact for customers arriving in the yard, ensuring they receive a warm welcome, efficient service, and the products they need to get the job done. You'll help keep the yard safe, organised, and well-stocked while supporting the wider branch team in delivering excellent customer service. As a Yard Operative, you'll play a vital role in making sure customers have a great experience every time they visit. You'll be part of a supportive, values-led business with a clear purpose of Building our future, through helping others build theirs.

Branch opening hours are Mon - Thurs 07.30 - 17.00, Fri 07.30 - 16.00, Sat 08.00 - 12.00 and we are flexible to consider a variety of working hours/patterns to suit your needs!

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

  • Greet customers in a friendly, professional manner and assist with product enquiries.
  • Safely load/unload vehicles and assemble customer orders for collection or delivery.
  • Operate forklifts and handling equipment in line with safety procedures.
  • Manage stock efficiently through ordering, replenishment, and participation in stock counts.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the branch team to achieve sales, margin, and service targets.
  • Complete health & safety checks and mandatory training to company standards.
  • Positively represent the company and contribute to our values of Decency, Passion, and Pride.

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?

  • Experience in a similar role or trade environment is an advantage.
  • Forklift licence (or willingness to train).
  • Strong awareness and adherence of health & safety practices.
  • Good communication skills with a positive, customer-first attitude.
  • A team player who takes pride in their work and branch success.
  • Willingness and aptitude for self-development.
